We
have developed unique equipment to enable us to pin point cable faults within
a few inches. There is no requirement to have direct access to the cable,
or for the cable to be visible.
A recent example was a 25mm 4 core submain that had been spiked, most likely with a nail or screw. The cable had been built in to the building, and although the cable route was known, there was no direct access without damage to the structure.
We quickly determined the exact distance of the damage from each end of the cable. A small hole was made into a ceiling void and the damage found, within a few inches of the hole.
